“When I wrote “Roses” two years ago, I was living back in the same small town in Central Florida that I had spent my entire young adult life trying to escape. I found myself hanging out at the same bars and seeing the same old familiar faces from high school - even driving by my old high school all the time. It was a strange time for me, because I was also doing music full time and throwing myself head first into a career that I hoped would be successful. I think at its core, “Roses” is a song about someone trying to paint a pretty picture of their life when, in reality, they are feeling a bit stagnant and stuck.”
