about
Please Come Over is the third single from Matt Burke since moving to Nashville in 2020. His first single - "Missed My Chance" - marked his arrival in town with a honky-tonk classic, while his second release - “Roses" - showcased his sophistication as an Americana songwriter. With “Please Come Over”, Burke dives into Top 40, country-rock territory with the story of an alcohol-fueled night out and the intoxicating attraction of a potential new mate. Please Come Over features big pop-country production: electronic drums, synths, heavy layered guitars, pedal steel swells and banjo rolls make the track feel like a collaboration between Kings of Leon and Mumford and Sons, yet Burke’s catchy, clever lyrics and confident delivery make the song uniquely his own. With “Please Come Over”, Burke showcases yet another side of his musical personality and continues to carve his unique niche in the Nashville Music scene.
lyrics
Please Come Over
Tonight – I’m feeling alright
Shots by the bar under neon lights
And I - didn't come here to try
Meeting someone was the last thing on my mind
Then you caught my eye
Looking my way from across the bar
Girl you got it and you know it, so send it my way
Baby please come over
Cause I don't wanna stand alone here anymore
I'm a couple drinks from sober
And I like the way you're moving on the floor
Take a chance let's share a dance
And see what this could be
Baby please come over
I - can't look away
'cause you - keep smiling at me
And now - you're walking my way
Smirking at me like you got something to say
Then you take my hand
Pull me on the floor cause you're ready to dance
Girl you got it and you know it, so bring it my way
Baby please come over
Cause I don't wanna stand alone here anymore
I'm a couple drinks from sober
And I like the way you're moving on the floor
Take a chance let's share a dance
And see what this could be
Baby please come over
It’s 2am and the lights are coming on
I’m feeling you, and I don't wanna leave alone
So let me know if you wanna come home with me -
Baby please come over
Cause I don't wanna stand alone here anymore
I'm a couple drinks from sober
And I like the way you're moving on the floor
Take a chance let's share a dance
And see what this will be
Baby please come over
